Engineered with urban cycling in mind, designed to compliment and developed to keep dry – the BYBROWN Raindress, has been collecting a strong following ever since its first reveal during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam SS15.
The iconic raindress, which substitutes the boxy silhouette of all-weather gear with an engineered, tailored look was well received by the press.
The first journalist to publish about the Raindress was Milou van Rossum for the Dutch newspaper NRC Nederland in January 2015: ‘Melanie Brown, a British designer who is based in Amsterdam, is not the first designer to make something stylish for the rain. However it has to be said: her raindress stands out from the rest, beautiful, unique and functional.’
This was followed by printed articles in the Jan Magazine, Glamour NL, Modevalblad LINK, British Vogue, FD newspaper supplement Persoonlijk and the Volkskrant supplement magazine.
Vogue NL published about the raindress in May 2015 saying that:
‘The prestigious, Italian A’Design Award for international design will be presented on 15th April. Last year it was won by the uniquely Dutch, BYBROWN Raindress designed by the British designer Melanie Brown, who is based in Amsterdam. Brown proves with her cleverly designed raindress that rainwear can be flattering.’
