Tailoring lies at the heart of BYBROWN's approach to design. We use technical, innovative, membraned fabrics, made of recycled coffee grounds and recycled polyester. All our materials are certified Bluesign® industry approved. We incorporate state of the art techniques such as laser cutting and thermal-bonded seams, providing rainwear that remains waterproof ( with a water column of 10,000mm ) and breathable.

What is a 10,000mm water column? This means that if you put a square tube with inner dimensions of 1” x 1” over a piece of our fabric, you could fill it with water to a height of 10,000 mm (32.8 feet) before water would begin to leak through.

A rating of up to 10K is enough to handle average rain for urban use. Urban as opposed to performance wear that has to perform for many hours at a time.

Water resistance and breathability are two forces constantly at odds with one another. As a rule, to have 100 percent of either, you have to have zero percent of the other, so we look for a balance in between.

The fabric also has a DWR (durable water repellent) C6 W/R coating to increase surface repellency. This is the 'least harmful' fluorocarbon with by-products that break down faster in the environment and with less potential toxicity over time to humans, wildlife and fish than C8 and C10. We are aware of this problem and will be the first to adapt a more sustainable alternative when it comes on the market.

The fabrics contain NO PFOAs or PFOs.

BYBROWN strives to reinvent the idea of outdoor protection using technology, sustainability and fashion as our guiding force, elevating rainwear beyond merely a protector.
